FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Philadelphia Voices of Pride Celebrates Gay Singers/Songwriters and Partners with Mazzoni Center

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - October 17, 2011 – Philadelphia Voices of Pride (PVOP) is pleased to announce its next concert, Glitter in the Air. Glitter in the Air celebrates modern music from famed gay composers and singer/songwriters (Stephen Sondheim, Elton John), landmark musicals (Rent), and staunch allies (Lady Gaga). In honor of its groundbreaking portrayal of a gay teenager, PVOP is singing songs from the television show, Glee.

The title of our concert comes from the hit ballad by Pink, an admiringly adamant supporter of LGBTQ rights. While our concert highlights the fantastic work of gay musicians, we also felt we should honor our straight allies who stand alongside us in our fight for equality.

Glitter in the Air will be held Saturday, November 19th, at 8pm at The Church of St. Luke and the Epiphany, 330 S. 13th St. Philadelphia, PA. Tickets cost $20 and are available at the door. Please visit www.pvop.org for more information.

PVOP is also excited to announce its partnership with Mazzoni Center for this concert. The audience will not only get the chance to hear great music; they will get the opportunity to learn more about or donate to one of our favorite charities, the Mazzoni Center.

Established in 1979, Mazzoni Center provides quality comprehensive health and wellness services and is the only health care provider in the Philadelphia region specifically targeting the unique health care needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities. Mazzoni Center is dedicated to preserving the dignity and improving the quality of life of its clients. More information is available at www.mazzonicenter.org.

Philadelphia Voices of Pride (PVOP), Philadelphia’s premier Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer mixed-voice chorus, is 40 members strong and dedicated to furthering the musical, cultural, and educational lives of our community.

Glitter in the Air is the inaugural concert of our sixth season, The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Our sixth season will include a cabaret where we go to the movies and a spring concert where we will sing songs that we cherish the most.
